Custody Note v1.9.83 — updates for criminal defence professionals using the desktop attendance note app on Windows and macOS.
- Fix Mac→Windows data copy unlock: when encryption.key cannot be decrypted by local safeStorage, quarantine the unreadable key and prompt for the recovery password instead of inventing a new master key that bricks attendances.db
- Opening an existing CNDB never mints a fresh random key on key-file decrypt failure; clear errors mention the recovery password when unlock is cancelled or fails
- Preserve-first: unreadable encryption.key is renamed aside (not deleted); attendances.db is never wiped
