DSCC References and Attendance Note Workflow
Product editorial team — criminal defence workflow guidance for England and Wales. Content reviewed for general professional workflow accuracy; not legal advice.
The call from the Defence Solicitor Call Centre (DSCC) is often the starting point. Your note should tie DSCC references, custody details and outcome back to one coherent file record.

Workflow from call to file
- Record DSCC reference, client name, station, offence summary and time of call.
- On arrival, add custody number and OIC details.
- Work through disclosure, advice and interview sections contemporaneously where possible.
- Record outcome (bail, RUI, charge, NFA) with dates and conditions.
- Finalise the note and hand over to billing with time breakdown.
Custody Note includes Quick Capture for the initial call details and Officer Emails for follow-up to the OIC.
